At a recent online FCE retreat for couples in their 70s, 80s, and beyond, we (Marsha and Mike) ended worship each morning with a simple but powerful exercise: sharing love without words.
For 5 days, we explored different ways to express our affection, from the more traditional kisses and caresses, to hugs and high fives, and even to goofy head pats and hand dances.
We included this exercise in our workshop recognizing that as we age, words may not always be the easiest way to express love. But this practice isn't just for older couples -- anyone can benefit from learning new, playful ways to express love.
So here is a challenge for you:
1️⃣ Face each other.
2️⃣ Take turns showing love without words.
3️⃣ Do this five times each. Then come up with five more ways!
4️⃣ Keep going until you run out of ideas or collapse in laughter.
